We are currently working on the follow-up to our latest anthology ‘Alternating Current’ (2022) in the shape of a second anthology of fiction, poetry & experimental writing. For this companion project, we’ll once again be working with artists Andrew Cranston and Lorna Robertson. The book will be published in 2023 and launched at a live event in Glasgow (date to be confirmed).
There are a few spaces in the anthology for very short pieces, therefore we are opening submissions for three days, from 8 Feb 2023 till 10 Feb 2023. Below are the guidelines for submissions:
  1. Please submit only short fiction pieces of 400 words or less – micro-fictions, flash fiction, fragments, etc. Note: these should be prose fiction. No poetry is being accepted at this time.
  2. There are no set themes.
  3. We are actively trying to bring forth voices that are new to us. Therefore this opportunity is open only to writers whose work didn’t appear in ‘Alternating Current’ or ‘thi wurd Magazine, Issue 4’. And the opportunity is not open to writers whose work has already been accepted for the anthology in question. Finally, we ask that writers have not previously been published by thi wurd more than twice in the past.
  4. All writers for this submission window will be contacted by 22 February to let them know if their work has been accepted.
  5. Payment is a free copy of the anthology.
  6. Please note: we do not acknowledge receipt of submissions.
  7. We require that all work is previously unpublished.
  8. Anything sent after midnight (UK time) 10 Feb will not be considered.
  9. Important: please familiarise yourself with the kind of work that thi wurd publishes. We are seeking work that vibes with our aesthetic.
  10. Please send to content@thi-wurd.com as word doc attachments. Send, in one email, no more than three submissions (maximum). Title your email ‘Anthology 2 Submission’.
Thanks in advance to all writers for submitting work to us. We’re looking forward to reading your work.
