Over the years thi wurd has put on many ‘Short Story Tribute Nights’ and after a long break the nights return on Friday 5th March, 2021, 7-9pm.

Our chosen short story will be Free Love by Ali Smith from the 1995 collection Free Love and Other Stories.

How to Take Part

  1. Read the short story Free Love by Ali Smith.
  2. Write a very short piece of fiction that takes no more than 1 minute 45 seconds to read, inspired in some way – explicitly or implicitly – by the original. It’s up to you exactly how your story responds or connects, though your piece should be set in Amsterdam (the main setting for Free Love).
  3. At the event, you’ll read out your story to an informed and supportive audience of fellow writers. We’ll also discuss and pay tribute to the original short story and the collection it comes from.

The event on Friday 5th March is fully subscribed but check our twitter @thiwurd for details of how you can win a FREE place.

Watch out for more Short Story Tribute Nights in 2021.
