We are currently working on the follow-up to our latest anthology ‘Alternating Current’ (2022) in the shape of a second anthology of fiction, poetry & experimental writing. For this companion project, we’ll once again be working with artists Andrew Cranston and Lorna Robertson. The book will be published in autumn 2023 and launched at a live event in Glasgow (date to be confirmed).
There are a few spaces in the anthology for very short poems, therefore we are opening submissions for three days, from 14 Feb 2023 till 16 Feb 2023. Below are the guidelines for submissions:
  1. Please submit one-page poems only. We are seeking very short poems.
  2. There are no set themes.
  3. We are actively trying to bring forth voices that are new to us. Therefore this opportunity is open only to writers whose work didn’t appear in ‘Alternating Current’ or ‘thi wurd Magazine, Issue 4’. Writers who sent work in response to our Feb 2023 call for short fiction CAN also submit poetry in this window. However, the opportunity is not open to writers whose work has already been accepted for the anthology in question. Finally, we ask that writers have not previously been published by thi wurd more than twice in the past.
  4. All writers for this submission window will be contacted by 28 February to let them know if their submissions have been accepted.
  5. Payment is a free copy of the anthology.
  6. Please note: we do not acknowledge receipt of submissions.
  7. We require that all subs are previously unpublished.
  8. Anything sent after midnight (UK time) 16 Feb will not be considered.
  9. Important: please familiarise yourself with the kind of writing that thi wurd publishes. We are seeking poetry that vibes with our aesthetic.
  10. Please send to content@thi-wurd.com as word doc attachments. Send, in one email, no more than three poems (maximum). Title your email ‘Anthology 2 Submission (Poetry)’.
Thanks in advance to all writers for submitting to us. We’re looking forward to reading your work.
