Our final live event of the year will take place on Friday 22 November. It’ll be our last event before we take a break to begin work on our new literary projects. We’ll be talking about those projects on the night.
Yesterday, I told a friend I was due to write this blogpost. They said: ‘mention that a wurd event feels more like a gig than a traditional literary night’. It’s a great point. All the ‘gig-like’ aspects are important to us: the lights, the vibe, the sound, the crowd (we regularly get 100 to 150 at our nights). But equally it’s a chilled-out space to meet people, including fellow readers. Some of those readers might also be writers, artists, painters, filmmakers, actors, musicians – making artistic connections with others has always been a part of our context. But above all it is a friendly space, definitely not a clique or an in-crowd. Anyone can come along and make friends. It’s always a multi-generational audience. Expect a crowd of all ages, teenagers, right up to those in their 80s.
Personally, I enjoy the blend of seeing familiar faces and meeting brand new people. Over the years folk have travelled from all over the UK, Ireland, mainland Europe, the USA and beyond to be in our audience in Glasgow.
What is happening at the event on 22 November?

Music
There will be live music from the brilliant band Marigold, who will be playing a special live set. This comes a few months after the incredible reception they received at their last performance with us back in August at the Glad Cafe.

Film
We’ll be screening a short film with (hopefully) the director there to say a few words. More details to follow.

Stall, Playlists & Bar
Doors open at 7pm, show begins at 7.30pm prompt. We’ll have a break midway through to give people a chance to mingle and browse our stall which will be selling books, magazines, tote bags and more.
The event ends around 10.15pm, but everyone is welcome to stay around to meet people and hear more about our forthcoming literary projects for 2025. The very reasonably-priced bar will stay open till 1am and we’ll be playing our carefully-crafted playlists.
If you buy a ticket you’ll be actively supporting indie-publishing. thi wurd provides an alternative voice outside the mainstream. Please join us if you can.
