Events have been a significant part of thi wurd's progress over the past five years. There is the obvious importance of hearing a story read in the author's voice in order to gain a full appreciation of the nuances of the work, but events also provide an opportunity to obtain copies of our current and past publications, meet some of the artists involved, and share an enjoyable evening in the company of like-minded people.
The first event in this sequence was the launch of thi wurd fiction magazine issue #1, which was held at the Scottish Trades Union Congress building in Kelvinbridge, Glasgow in December 2012. Since then there has been a series of events in and around Glasgow, including writer tribute nights, with evenings dedicated to the work of such artists as Franz Kafka, Raymond Carver, and Margaret Atwood. thi wurd also runs Student Writing Showcase events in conjunction with the University of Glasgow's Centre for Open Studies.
To follow the launch of thi wurd #3, some more events are planned before the end of the year. If you would like to be kept informed of this, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the mailing list, or follow on Twitter @thiwurd ●
